Dads Group Inc (DGI) work with councils, Maternal Child Health, and community organisations to enhance capacity within the organisation/council and local community, to engage new and expecting fathers through the DGI training programs.
DGI provides training in the following areas
Training for councils, Maternal Child Health, and community organisations
Overview of underlying research and context of the needs for supporting new fathers. Overview of the programs trialed and tested. Overview of the current programs being implemented.
Facilitated training sessions for groups of new fathers (for councils establishing new fathers groups)
Deliver information sessions for new and expecting fathers within Maternal Child Health centres, councils and community organisations. The sessions are developed with a focus on engaging fathers in their parenting role, inform them about services available to them in the community, and how to get involved in a Dads Group
Leader training for leaders of new dads groups
Delivery of training to fathers who has started or are interested in starting a DGI dads group. This training can also be delivered as a train the trainer program to train resources within councils or community organisations.
