Dads Group and Talked join forces to launch a new national service to support parents of infants and children in the early years

MELBOURNE, Australia, April 28, 2023 – Dads Group, a national perinatal mental health organisation for new fathers, and Talked, a leading mental health platform, today announced an exciting partnership that will provide Dads (and mums) across Australia with the support and connection they need when adjusting to the huge changes that come with parenting in the early years.

Men are often left out of the discussion of perinatal depression, but 1 in 10 Australian men will experience anxiety or depression during their partner's pregnancy. Dads Group is on a mission to bring about a cultural change in this narrative so that new fathers are empowered to talk openly and seek support when they need it.

“Talked is thrilled to be partnering with Dads Group to provide free access to online therapy and help drive the message that it’s OK to need help”, said Ben Southall, the founder of Talked. “This collaboration will allow us to reach Dads (and mums) who are struggling with the challenges of fatherhood and motherhood and enable us to remove the barriers they often face when looking to talk with a mental health professional.”

“Our early intervention approach provides new Parents with positive social relationships and easier pathways to health services like Talked. Providing this support early on promotes positive parenting, fosters healthy father figures and supports healthy parenting relationships”, said Thomas Docking, the founder of Dads Group.

Specifically those who connect through the Dads Group Talked Link will have access to a fast, first and free initial consultation taking wait times from months down to hours. Some have even had same day telehealth appointments.
