Dads Group is shifting outcomes for new families across Australia.

By promoting positive parenting in men, we give new Dads the support and connection they need. Our early intervention approach provides new fathers with positive social relationships and more accessible pathways to health services if they need them.

Some of the associated positive impacts associated with this approach are as follows:

  • Decreasing risk factors associated with mental illness and suicide

  • Contributing to better child development

  • Increasing family wellbeing

  • Research shows that being supported in their role as a father reduces stress and increases the likelihood that men will seek help when needed rather than waiting until it is too late.

Here are some important statistics to be aware of as you lead your group:

  • 43% of new dads did not seek information or support from any source during stressful times.

  • 41% of new dads felt overwhelmed by their responsibilities to their family.

  • 41% of first-time dads viewed anxiety and depression after having a baby as a sign of weakness.

  • 39% of first-time dads experienced high levels of psychological distress in the first year of their child's life.
