As a Dads Group leader, your active participation fosters a thriving and supportive community.

Here are the essential requirements to ensure the success of your leadership role:

Engage with the Monthly DG Leaders Facebook Check-in: Regularly participate in the Monthly DG Leaders Facebook Check-in to stay informed and maintain connections within the broader Dads Group community. These check-ins are to support Dads Group leaders with any difficulties that might come up in their group. They are opportunities for leaders to get around and support each other and provide valuable insights and suggestions for other leaders. It also helps us know where extra support may be required.

Maintain consistency with regular Dads Group catch-ups: Foster a reliable and consistent community environment by organising and leading at least one monthly Dads Group session. This commitment ensures that the Group remains a dependable source of support for fathers in your community, promoting a sense of continuity and reliability. Consistency is key! Our experience tells us that your community's participation will drop off if you are inconsistent.

Encourage Collaboration and Shared Leadership: Actively recruit co-leaders within your Dads Group to encourage community and ensure the Group runs smoothly regardless of health/scheduling conflicts, etc. Involving others also helps to create a more dynamic leadership structure and foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among group members. This is to make sure that leaders are well supported.

Attend Dads Group Leader Sessions: We may conduct online Dads Group Leader sessions throughout the year. Please try your best to attend these to continue enhancing your leadership skills, foster community amongst the Dads Group leadership, and update on new support pathways that may emerge. These sessions may provide valuable insights, strategies, and a platform for addressing potential challenges, ensuring you are well-equipped to lead and support your local Dads Group effectively and, in turn, be supported.

Be Prepared for Tackling Difficult Topics: We do not want you to play the role of counsellor or therapist! That is why we have collated a solid resource platform on our website, providing several incredible supports to refer your group members. It is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with the readily accessible support we have on hand- it is not your responsibility to provide support outside of your wheelhouse!
