So, who do you invite to Dads Group, and how do you find them?
Well, we always suggest starting with your own network! Reach out to friends, colleagues, and acquaintances who are fathers or may know someone who is. You may have multiple people in mind already. Starting here helps leverage trust and familiarity within your Group.
As you develop, you may start promoting the Group further! Here are a few places we've found helpful for recruiting more Dads Group members. The information pack you receive once you have been accepted will provide you with further resources for reaching out to some of these contacts:
Local Maternal and Child Health Nurses (MCHN): Establish connections with local MCHN professionals who regularly interact with new parents throughout their child's first years. They can serve as valuable allies in recommending your Dads Group to fathers seeking support and guidance. We will provide suggested templates for contacting your MCHN.
Local Play Groups: Contact local playgroups where parents often bring their children. Play Groups are primarily attended by mothers and children, meaning many connected fathers may need a Dads Group, so these Playgroups may wish to promote Dads Group.
Local Facebook Groups: We have successfully promoted our Dads Groups on local parenting or community-focused Facebook groups. If you, your partner, or someone you know is part of a local community group on Facebook, this could be an incredible place to promote Dads Group. Your resource pack will include some helpful templates for reaching out to these groups. Please ensure you have read the group guidelines before promoting Dads Group, as we want to be respectful to all entities, and some do not like the promotion of external groups. Mums Groups on FB are a great place to promote, as many mums would be keen to find a community their partner might connect with.
Upon acceptance as a Dads Group Leader, we will set up your corresponding Facebook group, providing the perfect platform to direct these new contacts for updates and information.
